PRU Philosophy To provide support, both analytical and advisory, to all hospitals in the provision of their diagnostic service. Turnaround Times The PRU laboratory aims to provide timely and accurate results with the minimum of delay, 95% of results are available within the stated turnaround times. Some assays are complicated, specialised, low volume and time consuming and they can only be done by prior arrangement with senior laboratory staff. Quality of Service The laboratory has a full programme of internal and external quality control and quality assurance to ensure that standards are maintained. We participate fully in National Extenal Quality Assessment Schemes. The laboratory is UKAS accredited to ISO15189, UKAS Medical Laboratory number 8494 (UKAS Certificate). Assays are reported in standardised international units where a reference preparation is available. We aspire to best practice and provide a lever of service and expertise which is internationally recognised for it's quality. Interpretive support is available to all our users through our Senior Scientific and Laboratory staff. Confidentiality Statement The laboratory operates a confidentiality policy in accordance with the data protection act 1998 and in compliance with the freedom of information act 2000. We will not disclose any personal information to any other third parties, except where required by law, without consent.
